Words of a Feather
Verses for Recitation in Autumn

by Brien Masters

In this autumn collection of Brien Masters' sheaf of 'seasonal poems for recitation', we experience the Michaelic gestures for this colourful time of the year. As with the other volumes, the author draws the spoken word into a shrine of its own, presenting us with a chalice of rich and exciting glimpses into a world of forgotten pleasures. As always Brien is unable to resist including a touch of humour in his work, which one can discover alongside the sincerity of these poems.

To quote from Brien's own words in the Proem to the spring volume: 'speaking poetically expressive language... rolls away the stone from the sepulchre of habit'; we observe that this Easter deed has a Michaelic quality. The Michaelic deed is above all free of habit. It is uniquely inspired by that moment of autumn when, laying cotton garment aside for wool, and taking lance in hand, we experience the birth of the word in our hearts.

Spring, summer and winter volumes are also available.
