The Wonders of Sleep
An Anthroposophical Study

From the works of Rudolf Steiner.
Compiled by Richard Seddon and Dr. Jean Brown.

Sleep is one of the greatest riddles of existence. It is an absolute necessity for the refreshment of each one of us, yet natural science can give virtually no explanation of how this is done. And the reason for this is clear – it is not only a natural but primarily also a spiritual process. Understanding therefore depends on the research of the spiritual scientist, and pre-eminently on that of Rudolf Steiner. This book is the first integrated account of the many aspects of sleep which Steiner described, and the first to outline in anthroposophical terms the bodily processes involved.
This study opens up an awareness of our little-known relationships with the cosmos and its Beings in which we all spend a significant portion of our life.

Dr. Jean Brown worked within the National Health Service for 8 years, followed by 25 years as medical adviser in several Steiner Waldorf schools and communities. Richard Seddon read moral sciences at Cambridge and has studied anthroposophy for nearly 70 years, including 35 as either a Council member of the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain, or as a trustee of the previous English Section.
