The Evangelists
A Biographical Study
by Friedrich Goebel.
The Four evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have always been spoken of with great veneration within Christianity. The four gospels they wrote over 1900 years ago have become a lasting possession of mankind. Although a great deal has been written about the content and interpretation of the gospels, no comprehensive presentation of the evangelists' biographies has been given before. This fact inspired the author to elaborate the present study in the last few years by means of the available traditions. It became evident that the evangelists were also men of flesh and blood and that each one had an individual life and destiny. It also became clear that they were highly developed individuals who had been initiated into the great secrets of world and human evolution, and that we can look upon them as the four closest and most important servants of Christ.
